The Windy City’s foremost art fair, Expo Chicago, released the list of exhibitors that will participate in its second edition, running September 19-22, on Tuesday afternoon. Selected by a committee that includes Rhona Hoffman, Michael Kohn, and Anthony Meier of their namesake galleries, as well as recent David Zwirner recruit Chris D’Amelio, the participating galleries hail from 34 cities in 16 different countries, with a predictably large contingent of Chi-town dealers as well as many exhibitors from New York and San Francisco.

Famous Champagne brand Ruinart will be the official supplier of sparkling wines for seven art fairs this year: Art Paris, MiArt Milan, Zona Maco Mexico, Art Brussels, Art Cologne, Art Basel, EXPO Chicago, and Art Basel Miami. At every fair, the premium brand will showcase a gigantic work by Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek along with the limited edition new champagne boxes created by the artist and crafted at his workshop.

Expo Chicago Hires Shamim Momin: Expo Chicago has tapped Shamim M. Momin, co-founder of the public art nonprofit Los Angeles Nomadic Division (LAND), to curate its program of large-scale installations, site-specific, and performative works at this September's fair.

The Expo Chicago art fair plans to expand to a full week, involving a number of the city's major cultural institutions and having the full blessing of city government. Calling it an "outgrowth" of the "extraordinary first year," Expo Chicago President and Director Tony Karman announced plans Tuesday to hold Expo Art Week in Chicago from Sept. 16-22.

Tony Karman gave us a great one when he launched Expo Chicago in September, a new and improved contemporary art fair that earned high marks for its visually sumptuous design, spacious exhibitor booths — which looked like art galleries, not cramped mall kiosks — and most important, for the impressive quality of the art on display.
